Mind Your Mind(set)

I’m sure, at some point in your life you’ve tried to lose weight, get healthy, exercise regularly, or something along those lines. And, maybe you were dreading the annual visit to your medical practitioner. Or did you expect them to tell you that you needed to lose weight? Maybe you knew your blood pressure was high or your cholesterol was out of the healthy range.

Now think about how you felt when yet another attempt to get your health in order didn’t work out. Not so good, right?

There are many reasons why programs might not work for you, but if it’s a reasonably sensible program that provides adequate nutrition and is not calorie restrictive, it should do the job. However, if you don’t approach it with the right mindset, no matter how sound the program is, you will likely fail in the execution of it.

What makes the difference between success and failure?

You can have the best program in the world but if you don’t go about it in the right frame of mind, you’ll end up in the same place you always did. You need to get control of your thoughts. Reframing how you think about yourself and your ability to succeed is key to your success.

I work with my clients using five Pillars of Success. The first pillar is Mindset. We work on how you think about what you’re about to undertake and how you talk to yourself. You can succeed or fail based on your self-talk. In the words of Henry Ford…”whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right”.

Once you get your mindset right, you can do anything. It’s part of how I lost 135 pounds and completely changed the state of my health.

We’ll discuss the other Pillars of Success in the coming posts. If you would like to know what I do in more detail, please feel free to click here to schedule a complimentary call.

In my practice, I work with women who are living with or are at risk for developing heart disease or other chronic illness that can be managed through lifestyle and nutrition changes to prevent or possibly even reverse such conditions.
