It was my pleasure to work with Karen Sammer as part of my continuing journey to good health. After spending much of my life fighting the “battle of the scale”, I decided to consult with Karen. As both a registered nurse and heart attack survivor, I had no lack of information on the benefits of a healthy weight - but that is rarely the reason so many of us have this issue. I was very impressed from our first conversation with Karen’s straightforward approach and encompassing knowledge of nutrition and human behaviors. Knowing she, herself, had spent years with similar issues was both bonding and encouraging. I set a goal and Karen’s individual support, ideas, and recommendations helped me achieve a 20 lb. weight loss as well as significantly raise my own awareness levels. I subsequently joined her first group “sugar detox” program that further supported my efforts and reinforced my new healthy habits. I had the pleasure of participating in Karen’s 5-week, Sugar Detox program in the Fall, with a lovely group of women who were addicted to sugar. It was honestly the most informative thing I’d done in quite some time. Karen was full of great advice and helpful suggestions and she never judged anyone when they were sharing their struggles. It was helpful to know that there were women out there who struggled the same way I did and still do. I feel like I am armed with the facts now and every time I reach for a piece of candy or a glass of wine, I hear Karen’s voice!
