Let’s Talk About Something Different…What Are You Reading?

I thought I might talk about a different type of nutrition today. We feed our bodies every day but do we always feed our minds with good positive messages? There is a never-ending barrage of negative imaging entering our consciousness every single day, every hour of the day. We have to make an effort to find something good and positive to focus on because sensationalism sells copy. Kindness and goodness…not so much.

What books do you like?

As a child, I was a voracious reader. I loved to read happy kid stories like The Bobbsey Twins and historical biographies when I was in grade school. I also liked to read teenage mystery stories like The Happy Hollisters and others of that genre. Yes, I am THAT old! You may have never heard of those books but they’re classics. (WARNING…these books were written in the first have of the twentieth century and may not be appropriate by current standards)

As I’ve gotten much older, I tend to read books that nourish my mind. I like self-development books that help me to keep my head in the game and manage my mindset. I also read books that help me expand my knowledge to become a better coach.

Some of my recent choices

I will either read the real book (no e-reader for me, thank you) or I’ll listen to the audio book. Here are some books I have read more than once.

These are a few of my favorite things (cue Sound of Music). I really enjoy reading books that bring me value. If that isn’t your thing, go forth and read what makes you happy. I do.

As a health coach, I work with women who are facing serious health challenges like heart disease, metabolic syndrome and diabetes or who have been diagnosed as having a precursor to a serious health issue such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood sugar. I help them make food and lifestyle changes so they can get healthy, live longer and enjoy a fuller, happier, more energetic life. Love this Karen! I agree Nutrition is more than food, its also the people you surround yourself with and the TV shows you watch.
Current reads as I have resorted to reading more Relentless….Tim S. Grover, Start with Why………… Simon Sinek and The Great Reset….Klaus Schwab

Thanks Cheryl. I read Start With Why…very good book. I’ll check out the others. It’s so important to be discerning in what you allow into your consciousness because we are so bombarded with all sorts of negative inputs every day. Making an effort to weed out the mess and allow the good stuff in is well worth it.
