Did you choose a word for 2023? I did. My word is COMPLETION. I have a habit of starting lots of things but never bringing any of them to full completion. That includes choosing a word at the beginning of the year. But 2023 will be different.
This word came to me in a moment of amazing clarity while i was in a conversation about the upcoming new year. Usually I have to really force myself to choose a word, which I never again consider after I make the choice. I really feel this time will be different.
How Can I Be So Sure?
I don’t know why I’m so sure of myself this time. It just feels different. I know that’s kind of a cop out but it’s all I can offer.
I’ve already started. Yeah, I know, it’s only January 2nd and here I am, bragging about my progress. It’s actually more about holding myself accountable to do what I say I’m going to do for myself. I completed the first day of 75Hard with NO COMPROMISES. I was up until after midnight getting my second workout in and finishing my water, but I did it.
In case you’re thinking…after midnight? Doesn’t that mean you failed? It does not. Your day ends when you go to sleep for the night.
Why Is It So Important?
I am a board certified health and wellness coach and I encourage my clients every day to honor their commitments to themselves. If I’m not walking my talk, then what kind of example am I setting? I want to be an inspiration to my clients and others so they can see what’s possible.
Have you chosen a word for this year? If so, what is it? Share in the comments. I’d love to hear your word and why you chose it.
If you’re ready to commit to yourself this year, I’m running a 5 week Kick Sugar to the Curb Challenge that starts Tuesday January 3rd.

A perfect word for 2023!! I’m doing much better at completing projects than I did in the past. I would start something then get distracted and move on to something else. I just may use your word at times!
That’s exactly what happens to me Martha. And it’s what I’m hoping to change in 2023. Keep up the good work!
Yes completion is a great word for the year. I start so many projects and never finish.
There are so many competing priorities in our lives. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Good morning, and I like your word you picked out. I always pick one as well but haven’t yet. I spent extra time with family this weekend. Which has put my behind but I will catch up and have my word by the end of the evening. Have a nice day and I look forward to more of your post in the #UBC.
Good morning! Thanks for sharing this! Good luck in the Ultimate Blog challenge!
Thanks Jean and same to you. Looking forward to chatting about your podcast.
Thanks Glenda. I usually forget my word by the end of January but this word got my attention without me even trying. I think the universe is telling me I need to get my act together.
Completion is a good word.
So may projects get set aside for other ones. But it drags us down, doesn’t it?
Thanks for sharing your goals!
Laurir
I am the queen of starting and not finishing projects. I suffer from “Shiny Object Syndrome”. Something else always grabs my attention before I finish what I started.
Great word! Congrats on picking something you love and committing to sticking with it. I did the same in my post today. Hope you will give it a read!
Thanks Elisa and indeed I will look for your post.
A word for 2023? hmmm…..Accomplishment! because I have so much to accomplish this year without giving up first! And it will go up on my dry-erase board as a daily reminder of needing to accomplishment everything I need too! I am also a board certified health coach. Are you an IIN grad?
I am an IIN grad. I sat for the NBC-HWC exam in November and I’m now proudly a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Pamela, I would suggest rather than saying “I need to…” you change the wording to “I get to…”. It changes the energy of a chore to a privilege. Just a thought.
