Can you believe we are almost twenty years from Y2K? The computers were all going to come to a screeching halt because the calendar only rolled to 1/31/1999; planes were going to fall out of the sky and life as we knew it was in jeopardy. Well, none of that happened and a lot of consultants in the Y2K remediation business became very wealthy. And so here we are, about to wind up 2019 and the end of the second decade of the oughts (00s).
Do you ever look back on the resolutions or pledges or whatever you made at the beginning of the year to see if you actually followed through on them? I keep a list of my annual ‘to do’ list in the back of my journal and will peruse it from time to time to see where I am on the list. I have completed or almost completed many of the items on my list. Here is a status check of some of them:
- achieve level of Competent Communicator (CC) and Competent Leader (CL) in Toastmasters – I am one speech away from earning my CC which I will complete before calendar year end. I am also one speech away from earning my CL but it isn’t my speech so I have to depend on my protegé for that accomplishment.
- change eating habits to lose enough weight to get into healthy range – I began this journey at the end of June…better late than never. I have lost 22.5 pounds and am still going strong.
- exercise daily at least 30 minutes – I began this in early August with a commitment to make it to the gym every day for 90 consecutive days. I am on day 65/90 and doing at least 30 minutes each time. I have decided to extend that commitment to the end of the year.
- read 30 minutes every day – I am listening to my audiobook almost every time I am at the gym for at least 30 minutes. I do want to also read real books daily but I’m not consistent with that yet.
- meditate daily – I’m still working on that but I do meditate from time to time.
- create an online health coaching program – I am coming to the end of my first round of a 5 week sugar detox program which is going very well. I will relaunch one more time this year and offer another one at the beginning of the year.
There are others that are in various states of completion or not started at all but you get the picture. I am currently in a 90 Days to Goal Challenge in a group I belong to so we can all end the year strong and go into 2020 with some serious momentum. So this got me thinking about today’s topic. What are you doing to end the year strong? What changes do you want to make to start 2020 off on the right foot and keep the momentum going? Do you want to get healthy? lose weight? feel better? sleep better? change your lifestyle?
We still have 85 days until the end of 2019. If you begin right now, imagine how far along you could be by the end of the year. Don’t wait until New Year’s Day to take action. You can be three months ahead of everyone else if you start now. You don’t have to make big changes. Make small incremental changes to your lifestyle. Take baby steps.
Don’t know where to start? I can help with that. If you begin your health journey right now, you can go into the holiday season with a brighter outlook, more energy, less stress, in a smaller size, sleeping better and just in a better place mentally and physically. Who wouldn’t want that? Just schedule a free consultation with me to see if I can help you reach your health goals. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
