What Is the Power of Positivity?

Have you ever heard of the Law of Attraction? Your frequency, or energy, attracts to it that which is like it. It’s really true. If you walk through life looking for the sky to fall, it eventually will. But on the other hand, if you look for all the good things, you’ll find them too. I like to look for the good and I also try to spread joy when I can. I smile at strangers and start conversations with them. I hold the door for someone behind me (that’s just common courtesy). I offer help when I think someone needs it. What comes back to me is gratitude, friendliness, openness and connection.

So why is it good to be positive? What does it do for us? What does it do for others? Positive thoughts help you to stay healthy. They make you more productive. And people who are positive are usually happier than their negative counterparts. But being positive is a choice and sometimes it takes work to maintain a positive outlook.

Here are some motivational quotes about positivity that speak to me:

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick at least we didn’t die; so let us all be thankful – Buddha

There is always something in each day to be thankful for. Some days make it more of a treasure hunt than others but if you survived the day, sometimes that’s the treasure.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow – Helen Keller

This woman inspires me to no end. There is nothing that I have done or will ever do that will ever come close to what she had to overcome. If I remember that, I am limitless.

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals – Zig Ziglar

Reaching the pinnacle is almost anti-climactic because the thrill is in the pursuit of what you want to become. Enjoy the journey, savor every moment, every milestone and every setback, all of it.

Believe you can and you’re halfway there – Theodore Roosevelt

So true. If you can see yourself achieving it, it’s just a matter of taking the steps to get there.

Happiness is not by chance, but by choice – Jim Rohn

You have the choice every day. You can be happy or you can be miserable. If you choose to be happy, you’ll see the things in life that support your decision. The same applies if you choose to be miserable. Which would you rather be?

Be the change that you wish to see in the world – Mahatma Gandhi

This is one of my all time favorite quotes. If you want to see the world differently, start acting differently. It has to start with someone…why not you?

My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive – Maya Angelou

I live these words every day. It took some pretty hard health lessons to get here but I’m all in. And who doesn’t love a good Dr. Angelou quote?

Life can be good or it can be bad. I’m not saying that bad things don’t happen. Everyone has moments in their lives that they wish they could avoid. The important thing is that we have to pick ourselves up from those bad moments and course correct. IT can be hard and even seem impossible, but life is 10% what happens and 90% how we react to it. Choose carefully.

My Story

Since June 2019, I decided to hold myself accountable for walking my talk. Several years ago, I was able to take off 135 pounds and essentially save my own life. I regained some of that weight in the last couple of years and I’m working my way back down. I’ve lost over 40 pounds since I began in June and have exercised nearly every day since August.

If you choose to join me on this journey, I hope I am able to impart some nutritional and lifestyle wisdom. Even though I may have gone off the rails temporarily I can still share some of my first hand experience as well as my acquired knowledge and training to help you make the right changes to live your best life.

Thanks for the great Quotes we can use to be an example of positive living though the decade.

I think that my favorite of those quotations is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” If you really want change, why wait for someone else to put it into effect? It makes so much sense, even though it is so hard to do.

Alice…small incremental changes can add up to something profound. It may seem like a mountain you’re climbing if you look too far in the distance but step by step is all anyone can do. Then before you know it, you’ve reached the top.

I think I’m a more positive person now since meditating every morning since July. I’m not as grumpy in the morning. I noticed that I’m greeting people more with a good morning. I love inspiring quotes. I went to a talk given by Zig Zigglar a long time ago. I have his book Reach for the Top. That was when I was trying to sell Mary Kay. It didn’t help because I hate selling – anything. 🙂

Starting your day in a positive frame of mind can mean the difference between a good day and a bad day, in my opinion. I think Zig Ziglar’s family has continued his work. I like what he put out in the world. As for selling…you just need a product that sells itself :-). Thanks for commenting Lily.
